Are you dreaming of the perfect cruise vacation but not sure where to start? Planning a cruise can be overwhelming with so many options available, but fear not! We've got you covered with expert tips to help you plan your dream cruise vacation.

  1. Research, Research, Research: Before booking your cruise, do your homework. Research different cruise lines, destinations, and itineraries to find the perfect match for your preferences. Consider factors such as the size of the ship, onboard amenities, dining options, and activities offered. We have used cruises to see more than 200 ports around the world, often returning for multi-day vacations to many of our favorite ports!

  2. Set a Budget: Cruises can range in price from budget-friendly to luxury, so it's essential to set a budget before you start planning. Don't forget to factor in additional costs such as excursions, gratuities, and onboard expenses.

  3. Choose the Right Itinerary: Selecting the right itinerary is crucial to ensuring you have a memorable cruise experience. Consider destinations you've always wanted to visit and the length of the cruise. Whether you prefer a tropical island getaway or a cultural exploration, there's a cruise itinerary to suit every taste.

  4. Book Early but Consider Last-Minute: To secure the best cabin and pricing, I always recommend you book your cruise early. Popular cruises and the best cabins tend to sell out quickly. Having said that, if your travel dates are flexible, there are usually excellent last-minute cruises available!

  5. Consider Multiple Booking Options: Should you book through an online agency or through the cruise line directly? There are no wrong answers here. There are a number of excellent online cruise agencies but there are times it's best to book directly through the cruise line. See my rating of the best online agencies!

  6. Pack Smart: When packing for your cruise, less is more! Be sure to check the weather at your ports and pack accordingly. Don't forget essentials like sunscreen, swimwear, comfortable shoes, and formal attire for special events onboard.

  7. Plan Ahead for Excursions: Take advantage of shore excursions to make the most of your time in port. Research and book excursions in advance to ensure you get to experience the activities that interest you most. Whether it's snorkeling in crystal-clear waters or exploring historical sites, there's an excursion for every traveler. There are advantages/disadvantages to booking through the cruise line vs. on your own.

  8. Bon Voyage: There is nothing like a great cruise and it's an awesome way to see the world, one port at a time! Cruising also offers a fantastic opportunity to disconnect and unwind! Happy Cruising!
